Cheney: A Public Park
Atlanta Track Club has proposed an indoor track facility at Cheney Park on public land in Summerhill. This park has been at the heart of the neighborhood for decades. To transfer widely used public land for a private organization’s headquarters without community input is a risk to all of us who depend on public parks.
Our Cheney has one simple goal: deliver public value for public land. We are excited about the possibility of this first-of-its-kind facility. We are going to help make it happen and make it work for all of us.

Our Park
Summerhill residents have envisioned Phoenix II and Cheney Stadium as one connected public park, with sports fields, play areas, walking paths, water features, and places to gather. Since at least 2015, we have been working to make it happen but have been blocked at every turn.

Cheney Park is at the heart of a thriving community in Summerhill. Based on recent comparable sales, the land for the indoor track alone is conservatively worth $30 million. The value of the entire complex pushes it much higher. It is a large amount of land and a significant public asset.
